What is a differentiator?
- Content? Not a discriminator. While course content may vary some, at the end of the day we all cover the same basic material: the PMBOK Guide 4th Edition, the PMI Code of Ethics, and other content to address the examination content outline specified by PMI.

- Pass Rates? Not a discriminator. While there may be slight variation, most companies report similar first time and ultimate pass rates.
- Accepted by PMI? Not a discriminator. PMI explicitly allows all training companies, whether paying Registered Education Providers (REP) or not, to teach PMP exam preparation classes. For example, PMI states on page 11 of the PMP Handbook that training by any of the following is acceptable: REPs, PMI chapters, employer/company-sponsored programs, training companies/schools, distance learning companies, and academic institutions. See further discussion in our FAQ.

- Instructors? No set requirement. Who teaches and their qualifications will vary between companies. Some, like Project Weavers, will tell you who the instructor will be. Our instructors, such as Matthew Weaver, are certified, have at least 10 years of hands-on project management experience, have experience teaching project management, and have earned at least a bachelor’s degree. For more information, please see Matthew’s LinkedIn profile and over 60 recommendations at http://www.linkedin.com/in/matthewjweaverpmp/.
- Class Inclusions? In basic content, not a discriminator. Most companies will include courseware, learning aids, and practice exams. Many, like Project Weavers, will also include printed copy of the PMBOK Guide 4th edition.
- Extras? Varies, which is sometimes reflected in the price. Some companies cater meals during the class and some provide free parking, etc. Project Weavers lets you buy your own lunch and gives you free parking.
- Guarantee? Varies, which is sometimes reflected in the price. A couple companies will pay the $275 retest fee if you fail the exam. Like most companies, Project Weavers does not, instead focusing on helping you pass the exam first time, will allow you to re-site any session or class, and, in the very rare instance that you fail the exam, let you pay the retest fee.
- Price? The big big differentiator. Class prices vary from $895 to as much as $3,950 (yes, seriously) for a basic 4 or 5 day PMP exam prep class in locations around the U.S.
